September 2019 : Industrial Nature Sculpture

My latest creation is a sculpture created from many different materials. I had some wire screening scraps, wood and magazines left over in the garage and the idea came to me how I might combine these elements. I've had comments where some thought it was some kind of creature whereas other thought it was alien coral. I wanted to combine organic shapes with industrial as nature and human construction collide. The way nature grows in and around our lives even though we are always expanding, destroying or cultivating the green spaces. Nature is far more tolerant of us than we are of it, for the most part. This piece opens up disscus positively and negatively about industrialization and environment, human and creature, man-made and nature.

It has sparked many idea for future projects in my head along this line of thinking and may end up being the driving force behind several future pieces.
